“Space as material: A dialogue about installation art”, will take place at 10 am, Saturday, January 12, 2002, with the participation of artist Truong Que Chi and Curator Mizuki Endo – Art Director VCCA art. The appearance has been around for over 50 years and is widely available in the world, but the installation art (Installation Art) for the majority of the public in Vietnam is probably still quite new, not easy to receive. The talk will introduce the audience with basic information about installation art: its formation, development, character, and through sharing and dialogue about the installation of art practice of Truong Que Chi and other artists to help the audience visualize and feel more clearly about this type.

Truong Que Chi Master’s degree in film research at Paris University 3 Nouvelle Sorbonne, Truong Que Chi works in both visual and cinematographic arts as filmmakers, artists, and curators. Her personal practice is aimed at examining everyday violence scenes in Vietnam and exploring the complexities of material, memory, and imagination. Her works and projects have participated in many film festivals, local and international exhibitions and seminars such as High / High / Dimensional, The Factory Contemporary Arts Center (2018), Stop Through the Land nose, Nha San Collective (2017), Cosmopolis # 1, Center Pompidou, France (2017), Asian Film Focus: Time Machine, Objectives – Center for Photography and Film, Singapore (2017); Horizon with flying people 3, Nha San Collective, Vietnam (2015-2017); Oberhausen International Film Festival, Germany (2015); Torino Film Festival, Italy (2014). Truong Que Chi is currently a curator of Nha San Collective since 2015 and a lecturer at Hanoi Cinema and Theater University.

Curator Mizuki Endo

Operating in the field of visual arts as a curator, Mizuki Endo is currently the Art Director of the Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA). Dr. Mizuki Endo is also the founder and CEO of Nonprofit Services providing Artists facilities in Higashiyama. He has established three art spaces in Asia: Tetra Art Space (Fukuoka, 2004), Future Prospects for Art Space (Manila, 2005) and Playroom (Mito, 2007). He was awarded the 3rd Lorenzo Bonaldi Art Prize (Bergamo, 2005), the network manager of the 2006 Singapore Biennale, Project manager Arcus (Moriya, Japan, 2007-2010), the collaborator of Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale 2009, manager of Yutaka Sone: Great moment (Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery, 2011), and director of residence program of Kunisaki Art Festival (Oita, Japan, 2014).
